Whether you’re looking for recommendations of classic tea reinvented, or crabby for some jet-fresh crab nosh, we’ve got your summer covered with these five new culinary must-tries this season!
Treat yourself to one of the best afternoon teas in town. No, we’re not talking about elegant tea at The Peninsula, but The InterContinental’s digs just across the street. Their Lobby Lounge, acclaimed for its panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong skyline, is dishing a quirky cuppa tea alongside fashion grandé Shanghai Tang. Served in a stunning Shanghai Tang lacquered box, the summer themed tea set showcases seasonal items as well as lush Asian inspired ingredients. The scones (served with a choice of Devonshire Clotted Cream, Earl Grey Tea Jam & Peach/Rose Jam) are faultless, and the Pandan Puff Pastry? Well it’s a truly delish mix of eggettes, pandan, and cream. The Afternoon Tea Set also throws in two exclusive special offers for Shanghai Tang lovers—two discount vouchers giving you 10% and 15% off Shanghai Tang’s merchandise.

Chef Umberto Bombana of three Michelin-starred 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo fame recently unveiled his newest addition to Hong Kong’s culinary scene—Octavium. Unlike Chef Bombana’s other Central hotspot 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana, Octavium features a more intimate setting, and more simplified, yet creative menu. Must-try highlights on their degustation menu have to be the Homemade Sardinian Gnocchi with Traditional Pork Ragout and Castelmagno Cheese as well as the Grand Cru Chocolate Soufflé with Hazelnut Gelato. The former boasts a rich and cheesy sauce that gives the gnocchi a silky, smooth texture whilst the latter offers a delicious molten centre and a light, springy exterior—pure chocolaty decadence from the inside out.
Find it at 8/F One Chinachem Central, 22 Des Voeux Road Central, Central, Hong Kong

Craving for crab? Well, hairy crab season might be months away, but Dynasty, the iconic Chinese mainstay nestled in the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, is presenting a seafood symphony of crab-a-licious delights inspired by Chinese and Western vintages. Our faves on their menu? The steamed Dungeness Crab with Egg White in 25-year Huadiao Wine as well as the Deep Fried Dungeness Crab with Italian White Wine Sauce. The latter is one of the more finely-executed fresh crab dishes offering a synergy of flavours and textures. So string on an apron, roll up those sleeves, and crab on!
